your iron deserves a spa day
Give Your Iron a Spa Day 💆♀️✨
A little self-care goes a long way—for you and your Oliso.
Your Oliso iron works hard, and it’ll perform best when it gets a little TLC. Treating your iron to a regular “spa day” helps prevent leaks, keeps steam flowing smoothly, and extends its life—so it’s always ready when you are.
First things first… why does my iron leak? 💧
Believe it or not, most leaks can be traced back to simple, fixable habits. Think of these as your iron’s wellness checklist.
🛁 Iron Spa Day Essentials
1. Don’t overfill the tub 🚿
Your iron has a MAX fill line for a reason. Overfilling the water tank can cause water to escape where it shouldn’t.
2. Let it warm up properly 🔥
Steam needs heat to shine. The iron must reach the right temperature before producing steam. Give your iron a moment—it’s warming up, not slacking off.
3. Match steam with temperature 🌡️
Avoid using steam when ironing at lower temperature settings. Steam and heat work best as a balanced pair.
4. Pace your steam bursts 💨
Steam bursts are powerful—just don’t rush them. Allow the iron to reach full heat before pressing the steam burst button again. Continuous pressing doesn’t give your iron time to recharge.
5. Hydration matters (the right kind!) 💧
Oliso irons are happy with tap water. Our rule of thumb: if you can drink it, your iron can too.
– If you don’t drink your tap water, use inexpensive bottled drinking water
– Never use distilled water in an Oliso iron
6. Flush out impurities—inside care 🫧
Time for a deep cleanse. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water, then steam and spray it through the iron.
Follow with two full rounds of plain tap water.
Be sure to press both the spray and steam buttons to clear the steam chamber of water.
7. Drain and rest properly 🛏️
After each use, empty most of the water and store the iron on its heel. Leaving water in the heating chamber can lead to leaks over time.
8. Polish the outside—soleplate care ✨
When cool, wipe the soleplate with a soft cloth. You can also use trusted hot-iron cleaners like Faultless or Magic for a smooth, fresh finish.
The takeaway 💗
A relaxed iron is a happy iron. With just a few mindful habits and regular spa-day maintenance, your Oliso will deliver powerful steam, smooth glide, and long-lasting performance.
Because even irons deserve a little pampering ✨

Transmission Quilts
Transmissions is a project that makes quilts for trans people. In doing so, we create a channel to remind each other of our inherent belonging. Quilts have been given as gifts to mark life transitions across time and cultures. They help us see ourselves on longer time scales, which is something that many trans people can’t access.
As we make quilts, we collaborate across disciplines, including oral histories, ambient sound, photography, and more. Our project is an experiment into the claim that quilts can hold hands with any medium. This breadth allows us to welcome more collaborating artists and pay them more, all trans. This breadth also allows us to reach towards more trans people who might need it. By speaking a variety of creative languages, we increase the likelihood that more of our siblings might feel held in the work.
