Are We Sewing the "Wrong" Way?
The centuries old debate - Since Ellen Butterick created the first tissue paper patterns in 1863, sewists have debated whether patterns should include seam allowances or leave them completely "naked." SewShare polled their community, and over 900 seamsters gave their passionate opinions!
While 65% loved built-in allowances, going "naked" had some surprising defenders. Fans revealed that skipping allowances gives you total control over custom seam finishes, pinpoint marking accuracy, and effortless body-fit adjustments without doing annoying mental math.
