To Press or Not to Press?
That is the question, so let’s watch what Sarah has up her sleeve!
“Hey guys my name is Sarah from Franklin Jay and I’m so excited to be working with my Oliso irons and ironing mat for my little sewing experiment.”
“To show the importance of ironing between steps when sewing a garment, I’m going to make two shirts, one with proper pressing and one with no pressing. I think you’ll understand what I’m saying when you see the results! Is ironing the most fun part of sewing a garment? No. But is it possibly one of most essential parts?? Yes!! And it’s made so much easier with and excellent (and adorable) iron!”

Sew a Purse - Change a Life
The Sew-A-Thon is Sew Powerful's global fundraising campaign, running July 27 through September 30, 2026. Participants around the world sew purses and fundraise in their communities, with a goal of raising $250,000 to keep 25,000 Zambian girls in school.
For many girls in Zambia, growing up in poverty means missing school days every month for lack of menstrual supplies — so much school that they rarely complete their education. A purse filled with reusable supplies helps the girl attend school all month staying on the path to graduation.
Every $10 donated covers the materials, labor, and transport to fill one donated purse with reusable menstrual health supplies and get it into a girl's hands - all sewn by local Zambian seamstresses who earn fair wages for their work.

A Fall Read to Dive Into!
I pre-ordered this book the minute I heard about it and I can’t wait for it to arrive!
Eli McCann is a lawyer, humor columnist, podcaster, and writer who just published his debut novel titled STITCHED. It’s a comedy that revolves around a small-town quilting guild, or more succinctly put - a dysfunctional group of elderly quilters preparing for a big competition against their bitter rivals. In just the first week of launch it hit # 5 on the New York Times Best Seller List!
Eli grew up under a quilters frame but he’s never made a quilt (yet). So his mom and her quilting group were his resource for fine quilting details to write this fictional book with a touch of real quilter drama.
