June starts vacation season for many of us! Do you have plans to take a project on the road? Or maybe sit & stitch in the shade under your apple tree?
Since I love to hand stitch, that is an easy one for me. Cloth, needle, scissors and my favorite threads are always tucked into one of my many zipper pouches. Currently I’m working on embellishing a preprinted peacock from Little House Cottons and check out all of my must-have travel items below.

Summertime Take Alongs
I am obsessed with stitching on Little House Cottons organic cotton lawn panels. They make the perfect whole cloth quilt top or wall hanging, and the hand of fabric is wonderful.
My first must-have is Sew Fine Thread Gloss. The coated threads just glide smoothly through my fabric and the scents are fabulous. Highly recommend this!
I am slightly obsessed with the LDH Thread Snips. They are sharp, light weight and easy to travel with. The perfect tool for snipping those tiny threads while hand stitching.
12wt Egyptian cotton Wonderfil Spagetti™ thread is a great weight for hand stitching. The thickness gives good definition, and the color selection is just - WOW!
The Clover gold eye embroidery needles (size 3-9) are my favorite. The extra-large eye makes threading 12wt cotton super fast and hassle-free. No more straining my eyes!
And I am so glad I found the French General brass hoops. They hold the fabric perfectly taut for hand stitching without any hand strain or fabric creasing and they’re so vintage cute!
